Can any of the costs that I incur while moving be written off as tax deductions?

If you are forced to move at least fifty miles for career relocation, then you can write off some of these expenses as business related:

Transportation and packing of furniture or belongings

Moving insurance

Temporary storage facilities while you search

Donations: anything that you give to Goodwill or Salvation Army stores can be written off, if you keep an itemized receipt.

Check with an accountant, certified tax agent, or the IRS website for more information and to obtain the correct forms for writing off moving expenses.
